Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD)

Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) is a problem with attention-deficit, hyperactive and impulsive. In 1902, George Frederick Still had presented a paper, named “Some abnormal physical conditions in children” in London. In the paper he described the children which are having the same problem such as attention-deficit, impulsive and hyperactive. In 1980, America Psychiatric Association published Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) and described about ADHD. The updated of DSM version is DSM-IV, it was published in 2000. ASA differentiate ADHD into 3 types, predominantly hyperactive-impulsive, predominantly inattentive and combined hyperactive-impulsive and inattention. In the DSM-IV had listed a lot of symptoms about ADHD but in Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry had pointed out ADHD that had written in DSM-IV could not help to diagnose the ADHD. In some of the cases, DSM-IV could not help the doctor to identify the ADHD correctly. The lead of the DSM-IV, Allen Frances agreed that they had made a terrible mistake in a Wired Magazine interview. DSM-5 will release in May 2013.
